JUNGLE ALL THE WAY
Looks like we made it to the nice list this year! Our letter to Santa asking for the most elite Drum & Bass and Jungle talent has been fulfilled. Whether you've been naughty or nice you're still invited. This December, Atlanta rings the bells calling all bassheads to gather for this 25th annual event.
We're kissing and telling on this one, no mistletoe necessary! - Tiara of Bassgum
Atlanta's Jungle Bells has notably changed the course of the US Drum & Bass scene, forever: a party which keeps getting bigger and bigger, easily topping the previous year. Soon to reach festival status, this event is something you do not want to miss! Hosted at the Masquerade we get to witness legendary artists we are eagerly waiting for. Read on for a few words from some of the performing artists and the founders of the event.
Camo & Krooked needs no introduction. But if you need one, this Austrian producer / dj duo has been taking the world of Drum & Bass by storm and there is no stopping them...
CAMO & KROOKED, Reini (Camo) and Markus (Krooked), burst onto the music scene in 2008. Tracks like "Turn Up (The Music)" and "Climax" from their 2010 debut album "Above & Beyond" garnered international acclaim, establishing Camo & Krooked as artists who are committed to push the boundaries of electronic music.
In addition to their music, Camo & Krooked are celebrated for their extraordinary Red Bull collaboration, where they reimagined their drum and bass tracks alongside the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Their album "Mosaik" and recent track "Sientelo" with Mefjus have cemented their status as innovative and influential artists in the electronic music world. To this day, they continue to create and captivate audiences worldwide.

Bassgum: "The Nine" of course comes to mind when thinking of Bad Company, lets cheers to that and what are we drinking?
Vegas of Bad Company: The Nine is 25 years old, that’s amazing. What a ride. Glasses raised I think now my poison is natural spring water mainly, (don’t drink filtered tap water, it makes you thirsty!) that and an occasional Guinness and coke. Yes it’s amazing, try it!
Bassgum: Guinness and coke aka "The Trojan horse". Nice! Speaking of things you would think taste bad, but don't, the recent release on your label Bad Taste Records Vol 6. dropped a few months ago. What are your two favorite tracks to play off the compilation and when can we expect Vol 7. ?
Vegas of Bad Company: Mukbang and Ultraviolet Remix both work super well on the dance floor and Vol. 7 will be next year
Bassgum: Share with us any legendary tales in music history you took part of that happened in the United States.
Vegas of Bad Company: The USA has always been fun packed and filled with adventure on our visits. I always remember Fresh in Miami throwing a chair from the 10th floor balcony into the pool. It made quite a loud noise as it hit other balconies and bits of building on the way down. The huge DEA club invasion in New Orleans while we were playing was quite epic too. The list goes on, and on. Some best left to the imagination.
Bassgum: Everyone loves food! Tacos or Burgers?
Vegas of Bad Company: Burgers ! Japanese burgers ! Sorry guys they’ve done it again. Imitate and improve ! Mos Burger is the best thing ever !
Bassgum: Mmm...That burger looks incredible. Great! Now we have to take a trip to Japan and feel the joy! HAHA! Thank you for your time and we look forward to your set!
Bassgum: Who are you most excited to share the stage with for Jungle Bells 2023?
Circle K: Bou, Kanine, Camo & Krooked. I think all the artists on the bill are fire, but these artists are making waves, changing things up and really shaping the scene at the moment.
"If I had to narrow it down to one, I'd say Bou. He is the future and is really killing everything he touches right now" - Circle K
Bassgum: You and MC Collaborator sure have a dynamic style. How long have you two been doing shows together, and what was the "ah-ha" moment that led you to join forces?
Circle K: We have been partners in our night, Torque, in Orlando for 24 years. Performing together for so many years gave us a natural dynamic and knowing each other so well gives us an ease in a back and forth showcasing of our strengths that only comes with experience. Our energies are both very amped up when we perform so when those energies unite it’s a good time for sure.
Bassgum: Love it! and we are excited to see you get down.

The Fathering of Jungle Bells
MJ owned the lease on a warehouse that he lived in, so with a group of friends, they decided to throw parties there. Located behind the former Masquerade on North Avenue in Atlanta's Old Forth Ward, MJ's warehouse became THE afterparty destination in those days. Unsurprisingly, things skyrocketed into orbit.
Joining forces.
One day, MJ was singing Jingle Bells but replaced every "Jingle" with "Jungle", and from there, the name Jungle Bells was born, a brand new Dnb baby that emerged from a warehouse under the Atlanta night sky.
DJ Wednesday, one of the biggest Dnb djs in the area, agreed to play. Behold! The headliner for Atlanta's first ever Jungle Bells was secured.
With connections to the local Dnb crews, MJ and Brandon coordinated to create the first lineup of Jungle Bells by booking djs from each crew. Since all of the scenes have been so interconnected, getting word out to all the scenes in surrounding states was the obvious move to make Jungle Bells the success it has grown into present-day. This genius move brought together underground music lovers from all over the country to enjoy the different sounds and styles of Dnb under one rooftop.
"Over the course of time, Jungle Bells has become the largest holiday Drum & Bass party in the US" - MJ Lee
We'll be there, and you should be to! - Bassgum
Bassgum: A lil birdy told me there is a after party in the works. Can you let us anything about it?
MJ: We don't know about an after party yet. The venue we were going to use is unavailable now. We are working on it.
Bassgum: We're definitely staying tuned and in the know if this sticks!
